Govt extending every possible assistance for special children: Marriyum

RAWALPINDI: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the Government is ready to extend every possible assistance for welfare of the special and under-privileged children.

She was addressing Ideal Students Global Expo in Rawalpindi today [Thursday].

The Minister of State said it is social responsibility of every citizen to contribute share in looking after these children and especially those living in Sweet Homes. She said the Government has launched an IT and computerization programme for schools in Islamabad and this can be extended to Sweet Home schools as well.

Mariyyum Aurangzeb said education is free from KG to Matric and the Government is providing facilities like Montessori classes in public schools like those in quality private educational institutions.

The Minister of State asked under-privileged children to benefit from the Prime Minister’s Programmes meant for youth including fee reimbursement.

She said a week-long programme has been chalked out from 19th of this month to celebrate birth anniversary of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in a befitting manner. She said students of schools, colleges and universities as well as those from Sweet Home schools can register themselves for different competitions under the programme.

The Minister of State for Information appreciated that despite terrorism, students and their parents have not lost courage. She said it is because of sacrifices of the nation and its different institutions that today there is marked reduction in incidents of terrorism.

On this occasion, Fateha was offered for those who embraced martyrdom in the air crash yesterday.
