Govt completely ignores Karachiites in Budget 2015-16: Hafiz Naeem

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has claimed that the federal government in its budget for the year2015-16 has completely ignored the Karachi and its people.

Commenting on budget, Hafiz Naeem said that the PML-N government has unveiled a traditional budget as the previous government announced in which no relief for common men.

He said that the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leadership has continuously demanded of the federal government to allocate Rs100billion for Karachi in budget2015-16, and to allocate Rs500billion for the development projects in city.

Hafiz Naeem said that the government was not allocate any fund for completion of K-4 project while the Prime Minister previously in the presence of all political parties was announced to provide half of the funding in completion of K-4 water project.

He further said that the announcement of Rs16billion for Green-Line Bus Service by finance minister in the recent budget2015-16 was not adequate, adding that the people of Karachi are already facing water, power and other issues.

Hafiz Naeem further said that the government has initiated Metro Bus Service in other cities, but the people of Karachi are still on the mercy of quinchi rickshaws.

He said that the federal government was not allocated any funds for resolving the water and power issues while the project of Karachi Circular Railways is also in doldrums.

He stressed upon the need that the federal government should allocate funds for resolving water, power and transportation issues, adding that the government was not provide any sigh of relief to poor and under privileged people in the recent budget2015-16.

Hafiz Naeem termed the increase in government employees’ salary by 7.5per cent, an unjustified act by the federal government and said that at least 15per cent increase should be made in their salaries.

He said that the PML-N government has failed to fulfill its commitments made with the people before elections.
