Govt announces compensation money for Mina martyrs

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government has announced compensation money for the families of martyrs in Mina stampede while offering Hajj.

The federal government announced to pay Rs500,000 each family who lost their beloved in the Mina incident while Rs200,000 will be paid to each family of injured pilgrims. Free medical treatment will be provided each injured on their return home, PM’s focal person said.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister’s focal person on Mina incident, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, in a press conference here on Monday.

Moreover, each family of affected pilgrim will be rewarded by Umrah offer for 2-3 persons, Chaudhry said. He added that search missions underway to get reach to 63 still missing pilgrims while 228 were traced by the authorities in Saudi Arabia so far.

He said that two help lines were established by the government to keep updates of each development.
