RAWALPINDI: President Mamnoon Hussain has decided to commute the sentences of more than 500 inmates imprisoned at Central Jail Adiyala and other jails of Rawalpindi district collectively on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The administrations of the jails have started to prepare the lists of the prisoners who will be released. According to jail sources the government has decided to release prisoners on a large scale. The administrations of Central Jail situated at Adyala road along with six other jails have started to enlist the names of prisoners who will be granted pardon. Prisoners who have relatively committed minor crimes will be released after they have paid fine while the jail authorities will also reward the prisoners who have displayed good behavior with pardon.
The jail administrations are also preparing the lists of prisoners convicted of minor crimes and sentenced to pay fines. In this regard the deserving prisoners will be provided with the required amount to pay their fines. The jail administrations have initiated the process of granting the amount to these prisoners for clearance of fines.
