Search engine giant Google has launched the a special project for Pakistan as it is promoting cultural heritage of the country.
In this project Google selected a few places of the country with special street view maps for the finest cultural and historical treasures from Pakistan.
Pakistan is the birthplace of civilizations that date back more than five thousands years. 14 million year old fossil jaws of apes found from Pothohar region and 2 million years old stone and hand axes found on this land are clear evidence that this region was home to the earliest humans.
“Google Cultural Institute Pakistan” is all about preserving this heritage and digitising history to present it to the people beyond our boundaries.
Started back in 2012, the project is managed by Google with help of local authorities from concerned departments.
Google, in collaboration with local official authorities, selected a set of places from all across Pakistan and then featured them through 360-degree street-level imagery also known as street view mapping.
Currently there are over a dozen such places that are being captured and put live on Google Maps, and we anticipate that more locations are going to get mapped during days to come.
