Good News! Saad Rafique announces 30pc reduction in railway fares

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has announced that railway fares will be reduced by 30 per cent for three days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

According to a local TV, addressing a press conference after his visit to the railway headquarters, he said that time was short but he would try to rectify the situation.

Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique belonging to PML-N said that the engine of the railway has started. Now it has to be put on the track, the employees and pensioners of the railway will be paid on time, he said.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said that there was a lot of destruction due to NAB. The officers did not touch the development projects. The competent officers will work, civil aviation is a challenge for me, it will also improve, he said.

The Federal Minister said that if the government was running properly then what was the need? Our numbers were not enough, Imran Khan conspired to expel himself, he said.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said that ML-1 is related to Pakistan permanently while work on the project is stalled.

Last year, the Pakistan Railways had increased fares of passenger trains by 10 per cent.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Railways said that fares had last been increased in 2019.

He added that for the past two years there was a continuous raise in salaries of employees but no increase the fares.

The official said that due to the rise in the dollar price and the increase in the salaries of railway employees, it is compulsory to hike the fares.
