Court gives five-day physical remands of Zeenat’s mother, brother-in-law

LAHORE: A Court has given late Zeenat’s mother and brother-in-law in police’s custody on five-day physical remands on Friday.

16-year-old Zeenat was set ablaze by her mother in Factory Area on Wednesday for marrying a man of her choice, 20-year-old motorcycle mechanic Hasan Khan little over a week ago.

Police copped the woman after she came bawling out of her house, shouting that she just had killed her daughter for ‘dignity of the family’.

Three friends of slain Zeenat’s brother, Anees who is on the run ever since the attack are also in police’s custody. The case that was lodged against Zeenat’s mother, Perveen, her brother and her brother-in-law, Zafar as culprits.

Court today has sent both, Zafar and Perveen on five-day physical remands while ordered to ramp up hunt for fugitive Anees.

On the other hand, charred remains of Zeenat were buried in a local graveyard by her husband who has vowed to do whatever it takes to bring the culprits to justice.

According to Hasan Khan, Perveen is covering up for her brother and son who helped her kill his new bride. There have been four honour killing cases in last two months in different parts of the country.
