In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has said it is moral and political obligation of the UN to resolve the Kashmir dispute at the earliest and till its final settlement ensure the Kashmiris’ right to live with liberty and dignity.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said expressed grave concern over the use of military might by India to suppress the political will and voice of the Kashmiri people. He demanded a high level probe into the extrajudicial killings, random arrests, ruthless killings, maiming and blinding by pellets and bullets in the nook and corner of the territory at the hands of Indian forces and violation of the Kashmiri prisoners’ rights in jails.
The APHC Chairman said the people of occupied Kashmir have never accepted Indian aggression in their struggle for securing their right to self-determination. “Our resistance movement bears moral and political support of the vast majority of the international community, so sooner or later India shall have to accept our legitimate demand for right to self-determination,” he said and called for an early settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
Syed Ali Gilani welcomed the fresh initiative of the United Nations Human Rights High Council (UNHRC) for asking India to submit its report with reference to mass killings and gross human rights violation in the territory. He urged the UNHRC, Amnesty International, International Committee of Red Cross and other human rights groups to visit occupied Kashmir and take on spot stock of human rights situation. He expressed the hope that the UN as a responsible institution will come to the rescue of the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir and impress upon India to stop its state terrorism in the occupied territory.
The APHC Chairman felicitated Moien-ul-Haq for his fresh appointment as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India. In a welcome message, he hoped that Moien-ul-Haq shall leave no stone unturned to render diplomatic services in his new destination.
