In Indian occupied Kashmir, the 89-year-old Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, was barred by the Indian authorities from offering congregational Eid prayers for the 17th consecutive year on this Eidul Fitr.

According to Kashmir Media Service, an APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that it was for the 17th consecutive year that Gilani was not allowed to offer congregational Eid prayers. He said that since 2010, the Indian occupation authorities had kept him under house arrest.

“Two armoured vehicles have been posted at the main entrance of Gilani’s residence, making it impossible for him to move out,” he added.

As Syed Ali Gilani tried to step out of his residence at Hyderpora for Eid prayers, he was stopped by a contingent of police massively deployed outside his house in Srinagar. He was scheduled to offer Eid prayers at the Eidgah in Srinagar.
