Gen Raheel pays rich tributes martyred soldiers in Karachi

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif paid rich tributes to valour and sacrifices of two Military Police soldiers who embraced martyrdom in a terror attack in Karachi.

COAS strongly condemned the terrorism acts which aimed to undermine progress of Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He clarified that such coward moves cannot shake national resolve to root out terrorism across the country.

The top military head directed intelligence and security agencies to go to any length to apprehend the perpetrators.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, two Military police personnel were gunned down by assailants at busy MA Jinnah road in Karachi.

The martyred personnel were identified as Lance Naik Irshad and Havildar Rashid who were shot dead in the afternoon on one of the busiest road of the metropolitan city.

As per details, two assailants who were on motorcycle easily targeted the personnel who were in their jeep near Gul Plaza which comes under premises Preedy police station.

The assailants easily escaped the site after targeting the military men. The rescue workers shifted the injured personnel to Civil Hospital where they succumbed to injuries. Rescue sources said that the killed military policemen received bullet wounds on the head.
