ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain, Monday congratulating General Qamar Javed Bajwa on his appointment as Army Chief expressed confidence that armed forces would continue to attain glory and supremacy under his sagacious leadership, professionalism and expertise.
According to a President House statement, he was talking to the newly appointed Army Chief here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The President said the country’s defence would become further impregnable under the professional acumen of General Qamar Bajwa.
The President commended the supreme sacrifices rendered by the country’s armed forces in fight against terrorism and extremism and noted with satisfaction that operation Zarb-e-Azb had greatly curbed militancy and extremism in the country.
He said National Action Plan would be fully implemented to restore complete peace and normalcy across the country.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa thanked the President for his good wishes. He said armed forces were fully capable of defending the motherland and would meet the nation’s expectations in safeguarding the country’s frontiers by thwarting enemy’ nefarious designs.
Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javaid Bajwa, Monday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here at the PM House.
“Professional issues pertaining to national security were discussed during the meeting,” a PM’s Office statement issued here said.
