West Indian super star Chris Gayle has apologised for any offence he caused to reporter Mel McLaughlin during their controversial Big Bash League Australian TV mid-game interview on Monday night.
The T20 star said he thinks the media frenzy his comments have created has been “blown out of proportion”.
The 36-year-old cricketing superstar was swamped by media as he arrived at Melbourne airport on Tuesday, and after initially showing reluctance to make a prepared statement to reporters as planned, he eventually faced the cameras.
“To be honest with you, a lot of things have actually flared up from a simple comment, a simple joke on air, and it seemed to go out of proportion,” he said.
