KARACHI: At least one Lyari gang-war affiliate was gunned down in a police shootout in Maripur, in the wee hours of Sunday, says Police.
The authorities said that the suspect has been identified as Asghar alias Haikal, who was the member of Ashok Group of Chanesar Goth. He was also wanted in a number of criminal cases, says Police personnel.
Meanwhile, five suspects were rounded up after a search operation in Joharabad, Brigade and Soldier Bazar and five more were detained in an operation near Hasan Square, in the operation as many as 50 Rangers personnel were involved.
The Rangers also carried out search operation in Malir and Korangi areas and arrested four persons. The Ranger s said that three of them are members of a political party and one of them is extortionist. The Rangers also recovered arms from their possession.
The paramilitary in a targeted operation nabbed as many as two political activists from Shah Faisal Colony number one and four as well.
