MATIARI: Former federal minister and central leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Makhdoom Amin Fahim’s funeral prayers were offered in his ancestral home, Hala of Matiari district on Saturday.
The funeral prayers were attended by PPP chairman Bilawal Zardari Bhutto, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani and various other renowned politicians.
Amin Fahim had passed away today’s morning in a private hospital after losing battle with cancer. His body of shifted to his ancestral home Matiari.
The veteran politician was born in Hala area of Matiari district on August 4, 1939. He took part eight times in the general elections consecutively from 1977 to 2013 while he had served as information minister from 1988 to August 1990 during tenure of slain Benazir Bhuttu. He also performed duties as federal minister of trade and commerce in 2008. He was the lone parliamentarian who was elected unopposed for seats of provincial assembly and National Assembly in 1993.
