Four death row prisoners hanged in Punjab jails

LAHORE: Four death row convicts were sent to gallows in the jails of Lahore, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh and Dera Ghazi Khan in Wednesday’s wee hours.

As per details, death row convict Fayaz was executed in the New Central Jail Bahawalpur. Fayaz was awarded death sentence for killing his would-be son-in-law just before marriage in 1997.

Murder convict Qamar Zaman was sent to gallows in District Jail Toba Tek Singh. Qamar was awarded death penalty for killing a man named Iqbal in 2001.

Another death row prisoner, Saif, was hanged in District Jail Dera Ghazi Khan. He was guilty of killing two people, including his wife, in the name of honour in 1996.

Another murderer, Munir, was executed in the Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore. He was awarded death sentence in 2003 while execution of two other convicts was postponed.

Execution of two convicts was postponed. The dead bodies of the prisoners were handed over to their families.
