Former KP governor decides to join PTI

PESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah has decided to join Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Shah is to formally announce his decision in a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak later.

This comes a day after Raja Riaz, a senior PPP leader and former opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, joined the PTI during the party’s rally in Faisalabad.

Lieutenant General Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah was a former governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (the then NWFP).

After his retirement from the Army in 2000, he was appointed as Minister for Communications and later became Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a position which he held for four and half years.

He also served as an Ambassador in Turkey.
