Forces fully prepared to meet any challenge to national security: PM

Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif said Pakistani defense forces are fully prepared to meet any challenge to national security.

PM Nawaz addressing to a ceremony after witnessing Fire Power demonstration of Pakistan Air Force at Sonmiani range in Balochistan, pointed out that the threats faced by the country today (Monday) are not traditional and these should be viewed in the global and regional environment.

The PM reaffirmed the unwavering determination of the country to combat terrorism and said PAF has a key role in counterterrorism operations with close cooperation of Army.

Appreciating the combat readiness and professionalism of the air force, he said the significance of air power and its role in achieving strategtic objectives has increased manifold in contemporary era. The bravery, professionalism and enthusiasm of our air warriors clearly reflect that PAF is second to none.

The Prime Minister said JF-17 Thunder fighter jet is our national pride and assured that the government will extend all possible assistance to augument the PAF capability. He was confident that it will continue to live up to the expectations of the nation.

The Prime Minister also met the mother of martyr pilot Maryam Mukhtar at the ceremony.

He said the entire nation is proud of Maryam Mukhtar, who laid down her life for strengthening the defence of the country.

Earlier on arrival in Karachi, he was received by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and other senior officials at the airport.

The Prime Minister will also chair a high level meeting at governor house Karachi to review important matters with emphasis on law and order situation.
