NEW DELHI: Rejecting India’s complaint lodged against Pakistan for refusing to allow PM Modi’s aircraft to fly through its airspace to Saudi Arabia, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) on Tuesday cleared flights that carry state leaders are considered as “state aircraft” which do not fall to ICAO provisions.
The Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention) is only applied to the operations of civilian aircraft, an ICAO spokesperson said.
He continued that the convention does not applied to state or military aircraft.
Earlier on Sunday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had announced that Pakistan had denied India’s request.
