KARACHI: Army on Monday called in to protect river’s banks and flood relief operations in Ghotki, larkana.
Many link roads and roads washed away in Chitral. All roads leading to Garam Chashma and Mastuj are still closed. Pakistan army said that relief work would be restarted in Garam Chashma and Mastuj as weather become better.
Gilgit-Baltistan road has been disconnected from three points due to land sliding. While six link-bridges washed away due to flash flood.
Heavy rain has been falling in South Punjab for two days. Indus river flashes were making detriment in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
Indus river in low flood at Tarbela, Kalabagh, Taunsa and Chashma Barrages. Pakistan Navy teams are also busy in flood relief work in different areas. One of the camps established in Sukkur . All the teams were equipped with all necessary equipment and divers.
National Disaster Management Authority said that 64 people died of flood and more than 258000 people were displaced.
NDMA said that 648 houses, 451 villages and 233,000 acre crops were affected from flood. While 123,000 people were rescued from flood affected areas.
