Five rounds of funeral prayers held for martyrs in Shopian

At least five rounds of funeral prayers, in Indian occupied Kashmir,  were held for two martyred youth, Shakir Ahmad Mir and Sameer Ahmad Wani at their ancestral villages in Shopian district, on Thursday .

According to Kashmir Media Service, 17-year-old Shakir Mir, and two other youth were martyred by Indian troops during a siege and search operation in Chaigund area of the district, last night. Shakir was killed when a bullet fired by Indian troops hit him while he was grazing his cattle in the area. 13 sheep and a cow were also killed in the firing by Indian troops.

Earlier, Sameer Wani along with another youth Firdous Ahmad was killed by Indian troops during their cordon and search operation in the same area.

Despite restrictions, thousands of people thronged Odoo, the ancestral village of Sameer Wani, early morning to take part in his last rites. To accommodate the massive rush of people, the funeral prayers were held at least five times.

The martyrs were raised to rest amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
