Five die Punjab road mishaps

LAHORE: At least five people died and scores of others injured in separate road accident across Punjab province on Monday.

According to details, a one wheeler among two died in road accidents in Model Town and Ferozpur roads of the provincial capital Lahore while another was injured.

A youngster died and two others were injured in collision between two motorcycles at Pasrur Road in Sialkot district.

An over speeding tractor trolley knocked down a motorcycle in Qasimpur Colony of Multan resulting in death of the motorcyclist.

Two separate bus accidents in Punjab caused the death of a young girl and left 23 people injured, including women and children.

The first bus accident occurred near Rajanpur on the Indus highway, where a bus and truck collision left a child dead and 15 people injured. The injured were shifted to Rajanpur hospital.

The second accident took place in Pir Mahal district where a speeding bus overturned on the bypass, leaving eight injured. According to police, the accident happened because the driver fell asleep.

Overall about 50 people were injured in separate road accidents in Central and in southern Punjab who were shifted to different hospitals of respective areas where condition of some wounded people was stated to be serious and it was feared that death toll could rise further.
