At least 10 labourers reportedly died of suffocation in an overnight fire in Ramban district, about 120-km from Jammu, police said on Friday.
The blaze broke out in Chanderkote camp where construction workers were staying.
Reports suggest they were engaged by a company constructing Chenani-Nashari tunnel on Jammu-Srinagar highway.
Last night they were burning woods in their shed at Dalwas area. They reportedly died due to asphyxiation and burn injuries, senior superintendent of police Randip Kumar told IANS.
Others were shifted to local hospital.
