ISLAMABAD: In a major development to probe into the allegations recently leveled against Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned Sarfraz Merchant for investigation.
Sarfraz Merchant, the former donor of the MQM and close associate of the top party leaders, recently broke his silence about party’s top leadership links with India for the first time since the money laundering probe started in December 2012.
According to sources, the FIA team will hold an in-depth and thorough investigation into charges of money laundering, illegal sale of weapons and the Indian funding to MQM. For this purpose, the team has issued summon to Sarfraz Merchant to appear before it and submit the relevant documentary evidences.
