ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched an investigation against former prime minister Imran Khan and Zulfi Bukhari over the alleged sale of necklaces received as gifts abroad.
Geo News quoting sources said that the FIA has launched an investigation into the alleged sale of the necklace as a gift, while PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari has denied the allegations.
Talking to the TV channel in this regard, Zulfi Bukhari said that there is no truth in the news about selling necklaces.
The former special assistant to the prime minister said that there was never any talk of selling necklaces and all the rumors circulating in this regard were baseless.
It may be recalled that Imran Khan is accused of not submitting a necklace received from abroad to the treasury. Imran Khan allegedly sold the necklace to a Lahore jeweler for Rs180 million through Zulfi Bukhari.
When contacted by the TV channel, the DG FIA declined to confirm or deny the investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, former special assistant to prime minister Imran Khan Zulfi Bukhari has announced to visit to the UK to renounce British citizenship.
Zulfi Bukhari said that when he came in the government he had said that he would stay in Pakistan and had completely shifted.

He said that he was going to England to surrender his British passport. Now I will have only one Pakistani citizenship, he said.
Zulfi Bukhari said that he was surrendering his British citizenship and then he would contest the election.
Last year, Zulfi Bukhari, the former special assistant to prime minister on overseas Pakistanis had once again rejected reports of his alleged covert trip to Israel.
