ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a crackdown on those who slander security agencies on social media.
On the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the FIA has arrested five people from different cities in a crackdown on those campaigning against security agencies on social media.

According to sources, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing has arrested five persons from Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar. The FIA said that the arrested person from Lahore had created 22 different accounts.
Sources said that provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act could also be imposed against the arrested persons.
Last month, the FIA have detained senior journalist and analyst Mohsin Baig, according to his family.
Mohsin Baig was arrested from his residence here on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Mohsin Baig said that the FIA had neither warrants for the journalist’s arrest nor any case was registered. So far, the FIA did not give any reason on the custody of Mohsin Baig.
On the other hand, Islamabad police spokesman said that during the arrest, the FIA team was resisted and the accused opened fire. As a result, an FIA officer got injured.
Mohsin Baig was shifted to the police station.
Further legal action is underway.
