ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested two human traffickers under a campaign launched on directives of Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
The human traffickers, Muhammad Naveed and Ahmad Nawaz Abbasi were declared proclaimed offender in cases registered by Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of FIA.
Meanwhile, as per data, FIA had apprehended 1,969 human smugglers/traffickers including 89 most wanted such criminals under its special campaign during last two years.
Of the total, the Agency arrested 812 human smugglers (785 human traffickers and 27 most wanted ones) during 2014 and 1131 human smugglers (1095 human traffickers and 36 most wanted ones) during 2015.
FIA, under countrywide crackdown on human smugglers and traffickers, has been making hectic efforts for apprehending agents, facilitators and master minds of illegal immigrants and rackets involved in such heinous crimes.
The results of this special campaign are very encouraging and such accused have been arrested.
The data said measures have been taken to address issue of human trafficking/smuggling and these included:
Immigration Wing of FIA regulates movement of international passengers at notified border crossing i.e. air, sea and land. The strict control over these entry points leaves a little room for human smugglers to utilize these points.
Moreover, Anti Human Circles have been established in five (05) FIA Zonal Directorates to investigate and prosecute illegal immigrants/travelers.
