LAHORE: The federal government has accused Sindh of creating sugar shortage.

Special Assistant to PM Shahbaz Gill said that sugar mills were closed under conspiracy in Sindh. The Sindh government is closing mills to get cheap political advantage, he added.

He said that by creating a sugar crisis, a march is organised against the government. The crushing of sugarcane after the bumper crop should have started earlier.

The special assistant said that seven million tons of sugar is needed in the country. This year, 70 to 72 tons more sugar will be produced.

He said that sugar mills are to be operated in Sindh in October. Three sugars which were closed under conspiracy should start crushing, he said.
