February 2025: Profit rates of Qaumi Bachat Bank Regular Income Certificates

The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has announced a reduction in the profit rate for Regular Income Certificates (RICs), effective from February 14, 2025.

The new rates come in response to the ongoing decline in inflation across the country.

Regular Income Certificates, which offer monthly returns, are a popular investment option for the public. These certificates come with a maturity period of five years and provide profits starting from the issuance date.

Both Pakistani nationals and overseas Pakistanis are eligible to purchase these certificates, with no upper limit on the amount that can be invested.

RICs can be bought at any National Savings Centre (NSC), an authorized branch of a Scheduled Bank, or through the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

Revised Profit Rate and Monthly Returns

Under the revised profit rates, the return on Regular Income Certificates is now set at 11.74%, a slight decrease from the previous rate of 11.88%. Starting February 14, investors will receive Rs979 as a monthly profit for every Rs100,000 invested.

Tax and Zakat Implications

Investors listed on the Active Taxpayer List (ATL) will be subject to a 15% withholding tax on their profit. Non-filers, however, will be required to pay a 35% tax on their profits, regardless of the investment date or amount.

It is also important to note that investments made in Regular Income Certificates are exempt from Zakat deductions.
