United Jihad Council (UJC) chief and Hizbul Mujahideen founder Syed Salahuddin said the Indian government, through its agencies, has framed fake charges against his son.
“A fake story has been made to arrest my son,” Hizbul Mujahideen spokesman Saleem Hashmi quoted Salahuddin as saying, reported Kashmir News Service (KNS).
The wire service added Hashmi said over phone, “Such acts won’t weaken our freedom movement and neither will it daunt the resolve of the leaders of freedom movement.”
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested Salahuddin’s son in a six-year-old case of terror funding through hawala channels.
The NIA in a statement charged 42-year-old Shahid Yousuf of “receiving and collecting funds through international wire money transfer” from a Saudi Arabia-based Aizaz Ahmad Bhat
