CHARSADDA: The police in Charsadda discrict on Monday claimed to have arrested 12 suspects including a wanted terrorist who had allegedly facilitated a suicide attack on Qaumi Wattan Party chief Aftab Sherpao in 2007.
According to senior police officer, an intelligence based surgical raid was conducted in Utmanzai area after receiving information about presence of SamiUllah, a facilitator of suicide attack on Aftab Sherpao. The police arrested him without facing any resistance, he added.
According to police, SamiUllah was the facilitator of suicide bombing at the then Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao in 2007 that left 67 people dead.
Samiullah had been hiding for several years after which the government placed a head money of Rs1 million for his arrest.
The arrested terrorist was taken to an unknown place for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the police carried out search and strike operation in Sardehri area of Charsadda and arrested 12 suspects.
The police also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunitions.
