PARIS: Facebook has announced on Tuesday the opening of a new artificial intelligence lab in Paris to expand its online social network smarter.
Facebook would hire experts from France’s top public and private technological institutions.
Facebook has been planning such a lab since 2013. It hired Yann LeCun, a renowned French professor at New York University. He has specialized in deep learning.
The new Paris lab will be the biggest artificial intelligence research facility in France and in continental Europe. Facebook Chief Technology Officer Mike Shroepfer said that they had chosen Paris for the concentration of talent it had in terms of computing and artificial intelligence.
