Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia, inaugurated on Wednesday the King Salman International Convention Center in Madinah, and launched a number of key water, electricity and health projects in the region.
During his visit, King Salman said: “Everyone in the kingdom is equal, there is no partiality towards one or the other. In some countries, immunity is granted to some, while in the kingdom anyone can file a complaint against anyone.”
“Allah has mercy on whom points out ones mistakes. If you see something that hurts your religion, or country or citizens, then may Allah bless you,” King Salman added during a ceremony in Madinah.
“As for the holy Mecca and Madinah, I am honored that my name is like the names of those before me, and I am today the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. We serve the houses of God. And serve Mecca and Madinah. The pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah and visitors come reassured, and thanks to God, this is the approach of this country and our people thanks be to God,” the King said.
During his visit, King Salman launched a number of key water, electricity and health projects. These include the third phase of the desalination and electricity power plants in Yanbu, and the Madinah -Yanbu water transportation projects, costing a total of over SR21 billion.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdurahman Al-Fadli said that the project will supply an additional 550,000 cubic meters of water daily through six production units, and more than 3,000 megawatts of electricity through five power units. The water transportation project includes setting up of 603 km long pipelines and tanks with a capacity of over one million cubic meters in addition to pumping stations.
King Salman also announced the conversion of the 300-bed New Meeqat Hospital to King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC). Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah said that the new KFSH&RC in Madinah would bring about a qualitative leap in the health care facilities and services being offered in the region.
Upon arrival at the venue, King Salman was received by Madinah Emir Prince Faisal Bin Salman, Deputy Emir Prince Saud Bin Khaled Al-Faisal, Minister of Interior Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Saud Bin Naif, Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan and other senior civil and military officials.
