Erdogan says Turkey will do trade in Lira, not dollar

KAYSERI, Turkey: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that Ankara will conduct foreign trade in Lira abandoning dollars.

Speaking at an inauguration ceremony here, the president said that in this connection necessary steps are being taken.

He said that Turkey has taken steps to do trade with China, Russia and Iran in local currency Lira.

Elaborating the plan, Erdogan said Turkey will pay import bill in the local currency of the respective exporting country whereas in case of exports Ankara will accept export bill in Lira from the importing country.
