ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary committee on electoral reforms is considering several constitutional amendments to improve electoral process for free, fair and transparent elections.
The Electoral Reforms Committee on Tuesday approved full autonomy to the Election Commission of Pakistan. ERC took the decision in a meeting, chaired by Zahid Hamid. MNA Zahid Hamid heads the sub-committee on electoral reforms.
The sub-committee will begin article-wise approval for the draft of the new act from Wednesday. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) briefed the meeting over biometric system and electronic voting machines.
While talking to media, Hamid said that 125 million rupees were needed to purchase biometric system.
