KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that Karachi was once known for education, civilization, merit and good governance but these identities had been taken away from the citizens.
He expressed these views onSunday while visiting the international book fair at the expo center in Karachi.
He appreciated the activity and stressed the need to revive the books culture. The JI leader visited several stalls and distributed prizes among successful students at the stall of Otho Aagay Barho Karachi.
He said that such type of programs should be supported and promoted in the city.
He expressed his joy and happiness over massive participation in the event by the youngsters of Karachi.
It is a sign that young people in the city are rapidly developing a relationship with books and positive activities, he added.
Further speaking on the city, he said that the politics of hate and divide had failed the city.
He urged the educated segments of the society to come forward to own and run the affairs of the city.
On the occasion, he invited people to participate in the million march at the date 17th December 2017 being organized by the JI to express solidarity to the people of Palestine and a show of rage against the oppression by the USA and Israel against Muslims.
