LAHORE: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the enemies of Islam were trying to disintegrate the Muslim world under a calculated plan. He said this in an interview with the Voice of America.
Liaqat Bloch said that Islam was a universal system which could unite humanity. However, he said, that thrusting one’s viewpoint on others by terrorism or force was against Islamic teachings.
He said that the 9/11 tragedy was an act of grave terrorism and a crime against humanity. The attack at the World Trade Centre destroyed the world peace and had negative effects on the sovereignty of states and human civilization. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan while Pakistan was the most affected state. The operation started by the US after the 9/11 had resulted in the genocide of millions of people.
He said it was time that the wrong path adopted after the tragedy was abandoned and instead of opting the use of force, dialogue be started between different states and religions . However, he said that the unity of the Muslim world was a pre-requisite for this purpose.
