Electronic Crimes Bill 2015 approved in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information Technology has approved Electronic Crimes Bill 2015 to end cyber crimes across Pakistan.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority will be authorized to block the material against Islamic values, national image, national security and defence.

The bill recommended 14-year jail term and Rs50 million fine as punishment over committing cyber terrorism while breaching the sensitive online system would be punishable by seven-year prison and hefty fine of Rs5 million.

Spreading of hate speech and literature on internet would be punishable by five years imprisonment and Rs5 million fine, the bill stated.
