KARACHI: The election for the new Leader of the House in Sindh Assembly will be held here on Friday afternoon.
There are two candidates in the run- the nominee of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Khurrum Sher Zaman of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI).
The Sindh Assembly session has been convened on Friday for the election of the new Leader of the House to succeed Syed Qaim Ali Shah, who had held the office of the Chief Minister of Sindh for almost eight years before submitting resignation on Thursday.
Earlier, four candidates had filed nomination papers for election for the post of Leader of the House in Sindh Assembly.
They included the nominee of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Syed Murad Ali Shah. The covering candidates of the PPP were Dr. Sikandar Mandrio and Jam Mahtab Dahar. Khurrum Sher Zaman of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) has also filed nomination papers.
The covering candidates of PPP Dr. Sikandar Mandrio and Jam Mahtab Dahar later withdrew their candidature.
The Election for the new Leader of the House in the SindhAssembly will be held on Friday at the Sindh Assembly Building at 3 pm.
