RIYADH: Eid-ul-Fitr in Saudi Arabia including Gulf and Middle Eastern countries, Kuwait, Japan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be observed on June 25, Sunday as the Shawwal crescent sighted parts of KSA, Supreme Court said.
Muslims in the Middle East, Europe, the US and other Western countries, who follow Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Hijri calendar, will will also observe Eid Al Fitr on Sunday (tomorrow).
It is pertinent to mention here that, in an announcement on Thursday, the Supreme Court said that whoever sees the Shawwal crescent moon by the naked eye or binoculars should report to the nearest court and register his testimony, or to the nearest center to facilitate communicating with the court. According to astronomical projections, there is a chance of seeing the moon on the 29 of Ramadan, which falls on Saturday.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced that Eid Al-Fitr prayers will be conducted in mosques, which will be announced by the government.
In Riyadh, there are some 650 mosques designated for that purpose. Arrangements will also be made to conduct Eid prayers in 33 open spaces, including Sulaimaniyah, Deira and Manfuha, with special places allocated for women.
