Education cannot be completed without character building: President

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said government is laying great emphasis on promoting education in the country as a part of nation building efforts.

He was talking to Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, who called on him in Islamabad on Wednesday.

He emphasized upon the crucial role of the universities in human resource development which ultimately contributes toward economic progress of the country.

He said education cannot be completed without character building of the younger generation and asked the HEC Chairman to further improve the standard of education.

Meanwhile, Rector International Islamic University Islamabad Dr M. Masoom Yasinzai also called on President in Islamabad.

The President appreciated International Islamic University is imparting quality education in contemporary disciplines besides offering courses in religious injunctions and Islamic jurisprudence to help build an Islamic society imbibed with tolerance and moderation.

In another meeting with Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University Dr Shahid Siddiqui, the President commended the services of Allama Iqbal Open University in catering to the educational needs of students living in far-flung areas.

The Vice Chancellor AIOU also presented his book to the President.
