The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is an independent institution to make important decisions itself to hold Local Government (LG) election in remaining eight districts of the Sindh province.
The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday announced verdict in view of plea submitted by the ECP challenging verdict of the Sindh High Court (SHC) against banning delimitations in eight districts of the Sindh.
The case was heard by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and gave the verdict that ECP will have to make own decisions.
The plea of ECP stated its stance that delimitations cannot be revised a day before organisation of LG election as the institutions will have to make reprinting of ballot papers and receiving of nomination papers.
The apex court gave verdict that ECP is an independent institution to make own decision whether to hold election in the districts or to postpone the polls.
