ISLAMABAD:  In the light of Lahore High Court orders, the Election Commission of Pakistan has stopped returning officers from receiving nomination papers and summoned an emergency meeting.

Nomination papers were to be submitted today as per schedule.

Sources said that crucial decisions are expected today in line with the decision of LHC.

LHC had declared amendments in the nomination papers null and void on Friday and ordered the ECP to prepared new nomination forms.

The court had directed the commission to restore the clauses relating to defaulter and loans in Form A and B of the nomination papers, which had earlier been removed by the parliament.

The court in its 39-page verdict had directed the ECP to ensure requirements of Article 62 and 63 in the nomination papers.
