ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule of Local Government elections for the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The elections will be held on 30th of November this year.
Aspiring candidates can file their nominations papers from 24th to 27th of October this year. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held from 31st October to 4th November this year. Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed on 5th and 6th November this year. Appeals will be disposed of from 7th to 9th of November. Candidates can withdraw their names on 10th of November.
Final list of contesting candidates with symbols allotted to them will be published on 11th of November this year.
The results of the local government elections will be declared on 3rd December this year.
With a view to ensure that elections to the Union Councils in Islamabad Capital Territory are conducted honestly, justly, fairly, and in accordance with law and to ensure that the corrupt practices are guarded against, the Election Commission has also issued guidelines. It said Executive Authorities in the Federation shall not use State Resources in Local Government Elections calculated to influence the elections in favour of a particular candidate or a political party.
The Election Commission has also issued schedule for delimitation of Union Councils and Wards in Islamabad Capital Territory.
According to schedule, preliminary list of constituencies will be prepared from 29th of this month to 22nd of next month. The preliminary list will be published from 26th to 30th of next month for inviting representations and objections. The process of filing of Representations and Objections before the Delimitation Authority will be held from 1st to 5th of October this year.
Representations and objections will be disposed of from 6th to 10th of October. Last date for communication of decisions of delimitation authority to delimitation officer is 11th October.
Final notification of delimitation of constituencies will be issued on 13th of October this year.
