ECP extends LB polls date from Dec 3 to 5

KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has extended the date of local bodies elections in Karachi by two days from Dec 3 on account of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

Secretary ECP Babar Yaqoob, in a press briefing regarding meeting with chief ECP on Wednesday, said the local bodies elections in the biggest city of the country would be held on Dec 5 rather than Dec 3.

Deputy Returning Officers (DROs) have demanded deployment of Army and Rangers in the city during the elections.

The meeting under the chairmanship of chief ECP discussed the matters related to the holding of first phase of local bodies elections in Sindh.

The session will was attended by Secretary Election Commission Babar Yaqoob, Provincial Election Commissioner Tanveer Zaki and other relevant officers of provincial government.
