ECP changes Shikarpur bye-elections date owing to Muharram-ul-Haram

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has changed the date of bye-elections in PS-11, Shikarpur from October 8 to October 20 owing to Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to a notification issued here, the other schedule issued earlier would remain the same.

It is pertinent to mention here that the seat was declared vacant due to the resignation tendered by member of provincial assembly Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, who joined Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

According to programme issued earlier by ECP, the scrutiny of nomination papers would be conducted  from September 19 and 20 while appeals could be filed against decisions of the Returning Officer regarding acceptance or rejection on September 22.

Last date for deciding appeals by the tribunal is September 24 and last date for withdrawal of candidature is September 26.

The revised list of candidates will be published on the same day while polling will take place on October 20. —APP
