ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to ban rallies and public gathering of political parties while issuing orders to remove banners and billboards in connection with the upcoming Local Government elections in Punjab and Sindh.
The decision was taken in the meeting held in federal capital Islamabad with representatives of political parties and government officials.
ECP Chief Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan said ‘No permission will be given for political parties’ congregations, while their sign boards and banners should also be removed. Only corner meetings will be allowed.
He said violation of rules should be immediately reported, so that prompt action would be taken against this felony.
‘No leniency will be given to the person found involved in violation of code of conducts’ he said while addressing an ECP meeting in Islamabad.
He directed to forthright issue rules notifications for LG elections in Sindh and Islamabad.
Khan said the Sindh and Punjab government had assured to abide by the ECP rules and provide all out security during elections.
