ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan on Thursday adjourned the hearing of references against PTI chief Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen till December 26.

During the hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Bokhari said that the reference against his client was forwarded by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, so he should defend it himself. Other members of the National Assembly are irrelevant to this case.

Jahangir Tareen’s lawyer complained that if decision of the reference against his client has been taken then why the commission is trying to open it again. He also said that Talal Chaudry and Muhammad Khan Daha have appealed to appoint Akram Sheikh the lawyer of this case which is illegal, as they cannot change their lawyer according to law when decision of the case has been reserved.

Chief Election Commissioner said that he will look into this matter on December 26. If decision has been taken then it will be announced, he added.

He also said that ECP wants to give its verdict on both Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen’s cases simultaneously.

The commission has also postponed the  hearing of the reference against Captain Safdar till December 19.
