ISLAMABAD: A moderate earthquake jolted federal capital Islamabad and different parts of the country including Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces on Tuesday night. The areas hit by quake include Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshehra, Chitral, Swat, Lahore and other suburban parts.
Pakistan Met Department official said that the magnitude of earthquake was recorded up to 5.4 on Richter Scale. Epicenter of the quake was Hindukush mountainous region in Afghanistan while its depth was 179 kilometer inside land.
Tremors were also felt in Kohat, Abbottabad, Sangla, Upper and Lower Dir, Parachanar, Kurram Agency and South Waziristan. However, no casualties or damages were reported.
