CHARSADDA: Jahandad Khan, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) belonging to the counter-terrorism department (CTD) of Peshawar police was injured by armed men in Charsadda district on Saturday morning.
According to details, DSP Jahandad Khan was on his way to office when unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire on him as the police officer’ s vehicle neared Faqir Kali in Charsadda district.
Police and rescue personnel reached the spot on getting information. Officials state that bullets were sprayed on his vehicle. The attack gravely wounded the officer who was immediately shifted to Lady Reading hospital for medical assistance where his condition is said to be critical.
Security personnel cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway however; the attackers managed to escape from the scene after the attack.
DSP Jahandad Khan was serving as the CTD head in Charsadda. Home Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had issued a threat alert of possible attacks on officials and politicians in the district a few weeks ago.
Meanwhile Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Saturday arrested a target killer during a search operation in Peshawar.
According to CTD officials, target killer Ibrahim was arrested from Hasan Garhi area of the provincial capital. Weapons and explosive materials were also recovered from the accused. The arrested man was shifted to undisclosed place for investigation.
