KARACHI: Former Adviser to Petroleum Ministry Dr. Asim suffered from paralysis attack, while doctors advised Asim for complete bed rest.

According to Ziauddin Hospital Spokesperson, Dr. Asim suffered from sudden paralysis attack, due to which Dr. Asim’s health has been affected badly. According to doctors, Asim Hussain’s brain MRI was taken immediately, while the paralysis attack was caused due to mental stress. Dr. Asim Hussain’s family appealed for his early recovery.

Senator Saeed Ghani has said that former Federal Minister Dr. Asim Hussain is being punished for being the physician of former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.

In a statement Senator Ghani said that Dr. Asim Hussain is being tortured and his health is continuously falling.

On one hand Dr. Asim Hussain is wrongly accused of treating terrorists in his hospital and imprisoned and on the other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan has admitted that Taliban were treated in his hospital but is free.

This double standard displays the victimization of Dr. Asim Hussain. He is kept in solitary confinement and tortured physically and mentally. National Accountability Bureau is running a vilification campaign against him.

Senator Ghani said that government helped Dictator General Musharraf to flee the country despite the fact that he violated constitution.

He expressed concerns over falling health of Dr. Asim Hussain and his wife who is also in a critical condition due to the mental torture.

It must be pertinent to recall that Dr. Asim Hussain was arrested over corruption allegations for the past several months.

Meanwhile, an accountability court (AC) has directed the medical boards set up to examine former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain’s health condition to submit reports by October 25.

The court said on Saturday it was a serious matter and it would take a decision after examining the reports to be submitted by the eight-member JMPC’s medical board as well as by boards set up by private hospitals.

The accountability court had indicted Hussain and five other accused on May 6 in Rs462 billion corruption cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau.

One of the medical boards set up by a private hospital submitted its report that said it did not have the facility to conduct hydrotherapy.  The counsel for Hussain however argued that an operation, not hydrotherapy, was imperative in the case of his client.

The court observed that the matter of the defendant’s movement in terms of his health was a serious one and it should be decided after seeing and examining all due health reports on October 25.

According to a medical report submitted some time back to the court, despite six months of psychotherapy, Hussain could not recover well enough as he was still suffering from sleeping disorder and was quite upset.

The report said that the former federal minister had developed some feelings of insecurities and it seemed difficult to provide him the required medical treatment in Pakistan. It also said that the defendant had developed a fear of “the Rangers uniform” and had been experiencing sleepless nights.

Hussian is standing a separate trial in an anti-terrorism court over charges of provision of medical treatment to criminals and outlaws at two branches of his private hospital.

Other leaders who are also facing the charges of facilitating criminals and terrorists include MQM leaders Waseem Akhtar and Rauf Siddiqui, Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Anis Qaimkhani, PPP leader Qadir Patel.
